Some of my favorite things about grief (if there can be such a thing) is when the kids randomly share a memory they have of their daddy.
Today we were getting ready to go out the door so they were putting shoes in. Aidan grabbed a different pair of tennis shoes that he hadn't worn in quite some time. He proceeded to tell me about the day that daddy got them for him. He remembers detail just like Danny always did. Danny was still able to drive and had apparently taken them to some sort of practice. For whatever reason all 3 fellas ended up with new tennis shoes. They were too big at the time but he's happy he can wear them now and think of daddy. They also were treated to a snack and a drink that day.
A pretty simple memory really, but one that stood out for him today nonetheless.
