Trumped the Nanny

The very same day I woke up having had a dream about Danny was a day that was very challenging for our nanny. Her youngest brother was leaving for basic training. It's not that she's not excited for him but rather the realization that her reality has just shifted forever. Her brother will be full time military. Likely the next time she sees him will be Christmas. Never will their family dynamic be the same again. Understandably, she was pretty sad about this. He stopped by the house prior to leaving to see her and the kids. After he left she was crying. The kids asked her why. She tried to explain to them that she was sad he was leaving and she wouldn't see him for a long time. The kids in all their innocence told her, "Don't be sad. We know how you feel. Our daddy is in heaven. We miss him too." Their reply stopped her in her tracks. A big reality check for all involved to be sure.
